
Prayagraj, April 22, 2026: Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University (RPNLU), Prayagraj, observed Earth Day by organizing a plantation drive at its under-construction permanent campus located in Kalindipuram, Jhalwa, Prayagraj.
The event witnessed the gracious presence of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Senior Prof. (Dr.) Usha Tandon, along with Registrar, faculty members and students. All participants actively engaged in planting saplings, to promote environmental awareness and substantiality.
As part of the initiative, a variety of saplings were planted across different sections of the campus with the objective of enhancing green cover and maintaining ecological balance. Participants collectively engaged in the activity, demonstrating a shared sense of responsibility towards nature and the environment.
The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, also an expert of Environmental Law, emphasized the significance of both individual and institutional efforts in safeguarding the environment. She highlighted the pivotal role of educational institutions in nurturing environmentally conscious citizens and promoting sustainable practices among the youth. She further underlined the importance of continuous initiatives aimed at environmental preservation and awareness.
Earth Day began in 1970, initiated by Gaylord Nelson to raise awareness about environmental issues. First observed in the United States with massive participation, it led to key environmental reforms. By 1990, it became a global movement, now celebrated worldwide to promote sustainability and environmental protection. The Earth Day Theme for this year is ‘Our Power, Our Planet’.
The plantation drive highlights University’s dedication to ecological responsibility and its ongoing efforts to instil sustainable values among students.
