Prayagraj, August 3, 2026: Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University, Prayagraj (RPNLUP) organised an Orientation Programme for its newly admitted Batch of 2026–2031 on August 3, 2026. The programme, which commenced at 11:00 AM IST, marked the beginning of the students’ academic journey with guidance, inspiration and an introduction to the institutional values of the University.
The programme brought together distinguished academicians and legal education leaders, who encouraged the incoming students to pursue academic excellence, integrity, intellectual curiosity and social responsibility during their years at the University.
Orientation Programme Begins with Traditional Inaugural Ceremony
The programme commenced with the formal welcome and introduction of the Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Vice-Chancellor, Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla.
The Guests of Honour at the programme were Prof. (Dr.) Bindu S. Ronald, Vice-Chancellor, Maharashtra National Law University, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and Dr. Seema Kaul Singh, Director, Institute of Constitutional and Parliamentary Studies (ICPS).
The formal welcome was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and the rendition of Saraswati Vandana, symbolising the dispelling of ignorance through knowledge. The inaugural ceremony was thereafter followed by the rendition of the University’s Kulgeet.
University Welcomes the Incoming Batch of 2026–2031
Addressing the gathering, Sr. Prof. (Dr.) Usha Tandon, founding Vice-Chancellor of RPNLUP, warmly welcomed the incoming students and congratulated them on becoming members of the RPNLUP family.
She encouraged the students to uphold the University’s values of academic excellence, integrity and social responsibility. She also highlighted the remarkable achievements of students from previous batches and spoke about the opportunities available in legal education and the legal profession.
The University is focused on providing a holistic curriculum that extends beyond classroom learning.
Her address sought to inspire the newly admitted students to approach their legal education with enthusiasm, responsibility and a willingness to participate in the wider academic life of the University.
Students Encouraged to Pursue Excellence in Legal Education
In her address, Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Vice-Chancellor of HPNLU Shimla, congratulated the students on their success in the CLAT 2026 examination and encouraged them to remain committed to excellence throughout their legal careers.
Drawing inspiration from the early lives and achievements of eminent jurists such as Oliver Holmes and Nani Palkiwala, she highlighted the importance of perseverance, intellectual curiosity and lifelong learning in the legal profession.

Constitutional Values and Public Leadership Highlighted
Dr. Seema Kaul Singh, Director of ICPS, motivated the students to make the most of their journey in the legal field. She acquainted them with the vision, objectives and academic initiatives of the Institute of Constitutional and Parliamentary Studies.
She encouraged the students to actively engage with constitutional and parliamentary studies through the programmes conducted by ICPS. During her address, she also proposed planning a visit to Parliament for the students of the University.
Legal Education Beyond Classrooms and Statutes
Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Bindu S. Ronald, Vice-Chancellor of MNLU Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, emphasised that legal education extends beyond the study of statutes and judgments.
She urged the students to cultivate interdisciplinary knowledge, critical thinking and a broader understanding of society. Through a thoughtful activity, she asked the students to imagine a distressed individual standing before them and reflect on how they could provide support.
She encouraged them to view themselves not merely as lawyers but as compassionate and responsible legal professionals capable of making a meaningful difference in society.
MoU Signed to Strengthen Academic Collaboration
A significant highlight of the programme was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla, and Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University, Prayagraj.
The MoU reaffirmed the commitment of both institutions to strengthening academic collaboration, research and institutional development.
Programme Concludes with Vote of Thanks and National Anthem
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Deepak Sharma, Assistant Professor and Convener of the Orientation Programme for the Batch of 2026–2031.
Dr. Sharma expressed his sincere gratitude to the distinguished guests, faculty members, staff and students for contributing to the successful organisation of the programme.
The ceremony concluded with the rendition of the National Song and the National Anthem, followed by a group photograph featuring the dignitaries, faculty members and newly admitted students.
