A group of MBBS doctors have approached the Supreme Court, citing severe apprehensions of COVID-19 infection amidst the second wave of the epidemic, demanding the postponement of NEET-PG examinations to be held on 18 April.
The plea states that forcing doctors treating COVID-19 patients on a daily basis to appear in a physical examination would be equivalent to endangering the lives of thousands.
Pallavi Pratap, Advocate on Record, the petition (Farsulla Shafi and others v Union of India and others) referred to the recent decision to cancel the CBSE Class 10 exams and postpone the Class 12 exams, Was supposed to happen in May.
The examination, which was initially scheduled for January 5, 2021, was postponed, yet the epidemic situation was under control then. Therefore, when there is a large uptick in COVID cases, it is arbitrary and unfair to conduct them, the petitioners argue. It has also been said that most doctors have not received a second dose of COVID vaccination.
