
District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Nagaon, Assam has invited applications from local residents for selection as Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs). Eligible candidates, including law students and persons from other specified groups, can submit their applications on or before August 25, 2026, up to 5:00 PM.
About the Recruitment
The Office of the District Legal Services Authority, Nagaon, Assam has issued an advertisement dated August 5, 2026 inviting applications for the selection of Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) who are willing to serve as Para Legal Volunteers in Nagaon District under the District Legal Services Authority, Nagaon.
Applicants should possess the qualifications and qualities prescribed in the official notification for selection as PLVs.

Who Can Apply?
The applicant must be a citizen of India and should belong to any one of the following groups:
- Teachers, including retired teachers;
- Retired Government servants and senior citizens;
- Students and teachers of Master of Social Work;
- Anganwadi workers;
- Doctors/Physicians;
- Students and law students (till they enrol as lawyers);
- Members of non-political service-oriented NGOs and clubs;
- Members of Women Neighbourhood Groups, Maithri Sanghams and other Self Help Groups, including marginalised/vulnerable groups;
- Any social worker;
- Persons from defence background or their family members; and
- Any other person whom the District Legal Services Authority deems fit to be identified as a PLV.
Eligibility Criteria
The applicants should have passed a minimum of matriculation and should possess the capacity for overall comprehension.
They should have a mindset to assist needy persons in society, coupled with compassion, empathy and concern for the upliftment of marginalised and weaker sections of society.
Preference
- Preference will preferably be given to persons who do not look upon the income derived from their services as PLVs as their primary consideration, but who possess a mindset to assist needy persons in society.
- Preference will also be given to candidates having proficiency in driving four-wheelers and proficiency in computers (MS Office).
Age Limit
The minimum age for selection as a Para Legal Volunteer should be not less than 21 years as on the date of the notice.
Salary / Honorarium
The work of a Para Legal Volunteer does not carry any salary, remuneration or wage, except the honorarium fixed from time to time as per the applicable rules.
Selection Process
- The Selection Committee will shortlist candidates for viva-voce/interview, and the number of candidates to be shortlisted will be decided by the Selection Committee.
- The candidates will be selected as per the relevant scheme applicable in this regard.
- The decision of the Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Nagaon regarding any objection concerning the selection of PLVs will be final and binding upon all concerned.
Important Note for Existing PLVs
PLVs who are presently associated with the District Legal Services Authority, Nagaon will also be required to apply afresh.
Failure to apply afresh will be considered as indicating that the person has no active interest in the scheme. Existing PLVs who apply afresh will also not be guaranteed selection, and the decision of the Selection Committee in shortlisting candidates for viva-voce/interview and selection of PLVs will be final.

- Eligible applicants must submit their applications in the prescribed standard form along with two passport-size photographs.

- Applicants should also mention their mobile numbers in the application form for further communication, if any.
- The application, along with self-attested documents, should be submitted in a sealed envelope and deposited in the “DROP BOX” provided for this purpose on the premises of the District & Sessions Judges’ Court, 4th Floor, Judicial Court Building, Nagaon.

The last date for submitting the application is:

Incomplete applications will be rejected, and no application will be entertained after the last date.
Interview and Communication
The list of shortlisted eligible candidates, if any, will be notified on the official notice board and will also be uploaded on the official website of Nagaon Judiciary for the interview.
No separate call letter will be issued from the office.
Other Important Instructions
Canvassing directly or indirectly will disqualify the candidate.
No TA/DA will be provided for appearing in the interview.
