Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must possess a Graduate Degree in Law from a recognised University.
- Candidates must be enrolled in the Bar Council of West Bengal.
- Candidates must have basic knowledge of computer applications/operations.
All essential qualifications must be completed on or before the first date of online application.
Bar Council Registration Requirement
Enrolment with the Bar Council of West Bengal is mandatory. Candidates must submit documents relating to their enrolment during the application process.
Work Experience
Candidates must have a minimum of two years of practising experience in the Calcutta High Court.
Experience will be calculated after obtaining the required essential qualification for the position, up to the first date of online application.
Proof of Work Experience
Candidates must submit relevant post-essential qualification experience certificates, issued and stamped by the appropriate authority, starting from the oldest to the latest.
Age Limit
Not more than 35 years as on 1 January 2026.
Selection Process
Selection for the post of Legal Assistant will be based on:
- Academic records.
- Proficiency in legal matters.
- Performance in the interview (5 marks).
Valid candidates will be called for an interview, and the interview date will be notified accordingly.
Nature of Work
- Handling case files before the West Bengal Administrative Tribunal (WBAT), Calcutta High Court, Consumer Forums and other Courts, as assigned from time to time.
- Preparing Affidavits in Opposition and Grounds of Appeal based on statements of facts supplied by the administrative branches.
- Holding conferences with advocates and maintaining liaison with the administrative branch.
Salary
₹32,000 per month.
Nature of Engagement
The engagement will initially be for six months, extendable from time to time subject to satisfactory service and approval of the higher authority. The service may be terminated by either side by giving one month’s notice.
