Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must have a Juris Doctorate (J.D.). The recruitment notice specifies that the J.D. should have been earned from an ABA-accredited law school. A Ph.D. is preferred.
- Candidates should also have a distinguished academic background, commitment to excellence in teaching, and demonstrated commitment to scholarly research and publication.
Work Experience
3–5 years of experience in teaching law courses is required.
Nature of Work
The Assistant Professor will be responsible for teaching law courses at Mississippi Christian University School of Law.
- Teaching and preparing for classes, being available for student consultation, assessing student performance, and remaining current in the subjects being taught.
- Participating in academic advising, creating an atmosphere in which students and faculty may voice opinions and exchange ideas, and assessing student learning at the law school.
- Engaging in scholarship and publishing articles.
- Providing service to the law school and university community, including participation in law school governance, curriculum development and other institutional responsibilities.
- Providing service to the profession, including working with judges and practising lawyers to improve the profession.
- Providing service to the public, including participation in pro bono activities.
- Serving on selected Law School and Main Campus committees.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
The position reports to the Dean, School of Law and its FLSA status is Exempt.
