Dr. Oliver Beyer joins Norton Rose Fulbright with associates
The law firm now has 13 lawyers in its real estate practice in Munich
Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright (NRF) has strengthened its real estate offering with the addition of a team from UK rival Simmons & Simmons.
While partner Dr. Oliver Beyer along with three associates has joined the firm’s Munich office, counsel Dr. Barbara Heinrich, who primarily advises on complex real estate transactions, has moved to the Frankfurt workspace.
Led by Beyer, the other team members are senior associate Leonie-Isabelle Raymann von Loefen and associates Isabella Schmidt and Michael Böger.
German head of real estate, Dr. Maren Stölting, also a transactions specialist, leads NRF’s Munich team.
Stölting said, “We are already perceived as one of the most active consulting units in the real estate sector. With Beyer and his team, we can once again strengthen our nationwide practice for complex real estate transactions and financing.”
Highlighting the team’s growth in Germany and internationally in recent years, Beyer said that its breadth of domestic and international experience was highly attractive. He stated, “We look forward to being part of this expansion as a team and offering our clients a strong global international platform.”
Beyer advises clients, including international investment and real estate companies and private equity investors and asset managers, on domestic and cross-border M&A, private equity and finance transactions in the real estate sector.
In 2013, Beyer joined Simmons & Simmons to launch its Munich base. Prior to that, he was co-head of the Munich office at audit and tax accountancy firm RBS RöverBrönnerSusat. He also served as an associate at Paul Hastings and worked at McDermott Will & Emery.
Following the loss of partner Dr. Hendrik Theismann and counsel Michael Mehler, who last summer had moved to German consultancy Baker Tilly, the firm has now replenished its real estate bench in the country.
Its real estate lawyers in Germany act for clients on matters including urban regeneration projects, direct and indirect investment transactions, real estate financing, equity investment structuring, portfolio deals, corporate occupier matters, dispute resolution and development projects.
In February, NRF had hired real estate partner Janet Derbawka in Vancouver from the Canadian firm McMillan.
