DNLU Jabalpur Hosts International Conference on New Criminal Laws, Artificial Intelligence and Digital Justice

Jabalpur, 11 October 2026: The Centre for Criminal Justice Administration & Research (CJAR), Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU), Jabalpur, organised an International Conference on “Transforming Criminal Justice in India: Implementation of the New Criminal Laws, Artificial Intelligence and Digital Justice” on 11th October 2026. The conference was organised under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha, Vice Chancellor, and Dr. Praveen Tripathi, Registrar.

The conference began with the Welcome Address by (Dr.) Praveen Tripathi, Registrar, who welcomed the dignitaries, speakers, delegates and participants and highlighted the significance of the conference theme. The Inaugural Address was delivered by Alexander V. Podolskiy, Head of the Department of Constitutional and Administrative Law, Tambov State Technical University, Russia. Addressing the audience, he spoke about the growing role of technology in modern legal systems and said that artificial intelligence and digital tools can make justice delivery faster and more transparent, provided their use remains consistent with constitutional principles and the rule of law. He also highlighted the value of international academic cooperation between India and Russia and extended his best wishes for the success of the conference.

The conference included two Plenary Sessions. The first session, on the theme “Reimagining Criminal Justice in the Digital Age: Criminal Laws, Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Justice,” panelled by Justice A.H.M.D. Nawaz, Judge, Supreme Court of Sri Lanka, Prof. Robert Peacock, Department of Criminology, University of the Free State, Bloemfontein, Republic of South Africa and Gleb Evgenievich Komandin, Assistant Lecturer, Department of Theory and History of State and Law, Institute of Law Tambov State Technical University moderated by Prof. (Dr.) Shailesh N. Hadli, Professor of Law, DNLU.

The Second Plenary Session, on the theme “Nyaya, Neeti and Samvidhan: Philosophical Foundations and Constitutional Vision of the New Criminal Justice Framework,” panelled by Prof. Ishrat Husain, Faculty of Law, Aligarh Muslim University, Dr. Neeraj Tiwari, Associate Professor, National Law University Delhi, Senior Faculty, Committee for Reforms in Criminal Laws, Prof. Anubhav Kumar, Assistant Professor of Law, RGNUL, Patiala; Research Consultant, Committee for Reforms in Criminal Laws and Prof. Shiva Priyamvada, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi moderated by Dr. Aishwarya Sharma, Assistant Professor of Law, Mangalayatan University, Jabalpur.

Nine parallel technical sessions, three in offline mode and six in online mode, were held, in which 80 research papers were presented by 100 scholars, professionals, academicians, researchers and students from different parts of the country.
