Baker McKenzie hires Joy Lam

With over 15 years of experience, she is seen as an asset to the firm

A former Sidley Austin Hong Kong partner, Joy Lam, specializing in blockchain and virtual assets, has joined Baker McKenzie as a registered foreign lawyer (partner equivalent).

Lam, who was at Sidley for nearly a decade, is a founding committee member of the Asia Security Token Alliance. She advises on blockchain technology, tokens, and virtual asset exchanges.

Last year, she assisted Huobi Asset Management in receiving approval from the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong to manage a virtual asset fund. It was the first such fund that permitted subscriptions and redemptions to be effected in crypto-currency.

Lam has also advised on Asia’s first open-ended and close-ended tokenized fund.

She began her career at the Australian firm Allens in 2006 and also worked at Allen & Overy.
