A few months ago, the firm completed its promotions round by creating 52 new partners across its international offices

As a part of its latest round of leadership changes, Baker McKenzie has elected San Francisco-based international commercial partner Joyce Smith and Bangkok-based corporate and M&A partner Peerapan Tungsuwan to its global executive committee.

The new members will replace Taipei-based special consultant Michael Wong and Dallas-based corporate partner Michael Santa Maria. Meanwhile, the term of Barcelona-based tax partner Esteban Raventos has also been extended by one year.

Milton Cheng, the global chair at Baker McKenzie remarked, “Our new executive committee members bring with them a wealth of experience and expertise in our core areas of focus, namely healthcare and technology. Smith and Tungsuwan are highly respected as experts in their industries with a host of professional honors to their names.”

Smith has been with Baker McKenzie for almost three decades, chairing the California international commercial group and heading the global IP transactions and tax practice. She also joins the North American regional council.

On the other hand, Tungsuwan has been with Baker McKenzie for nearly 40 years. She is head of the healthcare and life sciences industry group and joins the Asia Pacific regional council.

In June, the firm completed its partner promotions round, creating 52 new partners across its international office, adding to the 23 new partners in North America, announced in January. The 75-strong cohort was an increase from the 67 that were made partners last year.
