Eligibility Criteria
The essential qualifications, experience and other eligibility conditions for the Assistant Professor posts shall be the same as prescribed under the UGC Regulations, 2018 and amendments made thereunder from time to time, as duly adopted and notified by Himachal Pradesh University.
Candidates are required to fulfil the prescribed educational qualifications, experience/category and other conditions before the closing date of the online application portal.
NET/Ph.D. Requirement
The candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC or CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC such as SLET/SET, or must have been awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and amendments made from time to time, as applicable.
Candidates registered for the Ph.D. programme prior to 11 July 2009 shall be governed by the provisions of the then-existing Ordinances/Bye-Laws/Regulations of the institution awarding the degree.
Such Ph.D. candidates shall be exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment as Assistant Professor or equivalent position in the University, subject to fulfilment of the following conditions:
- The Ph.D. degree of the candidate has been awarded in regular mode only.
- The Ph.D. thesis has been evaluated by at least two external examiners.
- An open Ph.D. viva voce of the candidate has been conducted.
- The candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D. work, of which at least one is in a refereed journal.
- The candidate has presented at least two papers, based on his/her Ph.D. work, in conferences/seminars sponsored/funded/supported by the UGC/ICSSR/CSIR or any similar agency.
Fulfilment of these conditions is required to be certified by the Registrar or Dean of Academic Affairs of the University concerned.
Salary
The post of Assistant Professor carries Pay Matrix (Academic Level-10): Rs. 57,700–1,82,400.
Selection Process
Hard copies of online applications received by the University up to the prescribed last date shall be screened by a duly constituted Screening Committee for determining the eligibility of each candidate.
The Academic Score Component, as specified in Appendix-II, Table 3-A (Tally Sheet), as amended, of the UGC Regulations, 2018 for the post of Assistant Professor, shall be applicable for screening candidates for interview.
Shortlisted candidates shall be invited for an interview in order of merit according to marks obtained in the Academic Score Component.
- For one vacancy, a maximum of 25 candidates shall be invited for interview.
- For every additional vacancy, a maximum of 15 additional eligible candidates shall be invited.
- Interview shall be held if at least 5 eligible applications have been received and at least 3 shortlisted candidates report for interview.
- In case of more than one vacancy, the interview shall be held if at least 7 eligible applications have been received and at least 5 eligible shortlisted candidates report for interview.
- The selection shall be based on performance in the interview as per the marks matrix/recommendations of the Selection Committee.
Candidates are required to obtain a minimum of 50% marks in the interview components, and 45% in case of reserved category candidates, for consideration for selection in order of merit, as notified by the University.
Application Fee
- General Category, including General Persons with Benchmark Disabilities and specified Ex-Servicemen/dependants covered under the General category: Rs. 2,000.
- EWS/SC/ST/OBC of Himachal Pradesh and specified Ex-Servicemen/dependants belonging to these categories: Rs. 1,000.
- Ex-Servicemen of Himachal Pradesh relieved from Defence Services after completion of normal tenure and Visually Impaired candidates of Himachal Pradesh: No Fee.
The application processing fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances.
Mode of Payment
The requisite application fee must be paid online through debit card, credit card, UPI or internet banking on or before the prescribed closing date for submission of the online application.
Reservation Conditions
The benefit of reservation for various posts shall be admissible only to candidates who are Bonafide Residents of Himachal Pradesh in respect of the categories specified in the advertisement.
The category claimed by a candidate in the Online Application Form for the relevant post shall be treated as final. If the category undergoes a change before the prescribed closing date for submission of online applications, the candidate must apply afresh under the category intended to be claimed and deposit the applicable fee.

- Candidates are advised to keep/write down their User ID and Password for future reference.
- Candidates for the post of Assistant Professor are also required to submit a hard copy of the Online Application Form along with all requisite relevant documents in support of the information uploaded in the online application.
- The candidate must attach proof of UGC-listed/accredited journals along with the hard copy of the application form, wherever applicable.
- The hard copy, along with all requisite documents for each post, should reach the University on or before the prescribed deadline.
- Candidates applying for the same post in different Departments/Institutions/Centres are required to upload/submit separate application forms.
- Candidates who had applied for any of the posts covered by the advertisement in response to earlier Advertisement No. Rectt.-26/2022 dated 21.06.2022 are required to update their bio-data, qualifications, experience, testimonials etc. and submit hard copies afresh along with all relevant documents.
- In-service candidates must submit their hard copy through proper channel and are required to produce the NOC from the concerned Department at the time of personal interview.

Important Instructions
- Incomplete applications or applications without documents in support of eligibility, category, qualifications and experience shall be rejected summarily.
- Candidates called for interview must carry original documents in support of the claims made in the online application and as prescribed in the Interview Call Letter.
- No TA/DA shall be admissible for attending the interview.
- The University reserves the right to revise, reschedule, cancel or suspend the recruitment process at any time without assigning any reason.
- The number of posts may be increased or decreased from time to time.
