2nd CCI-MNLUCS National Antitrust Moot 2026 at MNLU Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar [Sep 12–13 & 27]

Maharashtra National Law University, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, in collaboration with the Competition Commission of India and Phoenix Legal, is organising the 2nd CCI-MNLUCS National Antitrust Moot, 2026. The preliminary and quarter-final rounds will be conducted online on September 12–13, 2026, while the semi-final and final rounds will be held offline on September 27, 2026.

About MNLU Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

Recognising the importance of quality legal education and the need for well-trained law graduates to serve the Bar, the Bench and various professions, the State of Maharashtra established three National Law Universities at Mumbai, Nagpur and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

Maharashtra National Law University, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, formerly known as Maharashtra National Law University, Aurangabad, commenced operations on March 16, 2017. Its establishment fulfilled the long-standing aspiration of the people of the Marathwada region for a premier national institution dedicated to legal education.

About the 2nd CCI-MNLUCS National Antitrust Moot, 2026

The 2nd CCI-MNLUCS National Antitrust Moot, 2026, is being organised by the Moot Court Association and the Centre for Competition Law and Policy of Maharashtra National Law University, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, in association with the Competition Commission of India and Phoenix Legal.

The competition seeks to contribute towards legal scholarship and advocacy in the field of competition law. It aims to encourage participants to discuss and debate intricate antitrust issues that are contemporary and jurisprudentially evolving.

India’s competition law framework has rapidly grown in significance, with the adjudicatory and advocacy roles of the Competition Commission of India affecting the business environment and consumer welfare.

Against this backdrop, the competition seeks to provide law students from across the country with a platform to undertake high-level legal research, develop effective advocacy skills and contribute to academic discourse on antitrust law.

The competition will be conducted in a hybrid format. The preliminary and quarter-final rounds will be held virtually on September 12–13, 2026, followed by the semi-final and final rounds, which will be conducted physically at the University campus on September 27, 2026.

The hybrid arrangement has been designed to provide maximum accessibility while retaining the experience of courtroom advocacy in a real-life environment.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The competition is open to students who are bona fide and regularly enrolled in an undergraduate law programme or its equivalent conducted by an institution recognised by the Bar Council of India.
  • Only students currently enrolled in three-year or five-year LL.B. degree courses are eligible to participate.
  • A maximum of two teams from each institution may participate in the competition.

Team Composition

  • Each team must consist of either two or three members. A three-member team shall comprise two designated speakers and one researcher.
  • The team composition and the roles assigned to each member must be submitted at the time of registration. The composition cannot be altered except in exceptional circumstances and with the prior written approval of the Organising Committee.
  • All members of a team must belong to the same institution.

Memorial Evaluation Round

All participating teams will initially undergo a Memorial Evaluation Round.

On the basis of the memorials submitted, a total of 32 teams will be selected to participate in the oral rounds of the competition.

Registration Fee

The registration process will be conducted in two stages.

Stage I

A registration fee of INR 4,500 per team must be paid at the time of initial registration. This fee covers participation in the Memorial Evaluation Round and the virtual rounds.

Stage II

Teams qualifying for the offline semi-final and final rounds must pay an additional fee of INR 5,500 before the commencement of Stage II.

The Stage II fee includes food and accommodation.

Communication with Participating Teams

Each team must designate a primary contact person in the registration form.

All official communication relating to the competition will be sent by email to the designated contact person. The contact person will be responsible for communicating the information to the remaining members of the team.

Prizes and Awards

  • Winner: A trophy, a cash prize of INR 50,000, an internship with Phoenix Legal and one-year SCC Online subscriptions valued at INR 33,500 each for all team members.
  • Runner-Up: A trophy, a cash prize of INR 30,000 and an internship opportunity.
  • Best Speaker: A trophy and a cash prize of INR 10,000.
  • Best Memorial—Informant: A trophy and a cash prize of INR 10,000.
  • Best Memorial—Opposite Party: A trophy and a cash prize of INR 10,000.
  • SCC Online Access: One-month access to the SCC Online Web Edition, valued at INR 3,100 each, will be provided to all participants.
  • Certificates: All participating teams will receive either a certificate of participation or a certificate of merit, depending on their performance.
