2nd National Moot Court Competition

2nd National Moot Court Competition will be organized by Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies. It aims to provide a platform for students across India to showcase their advocacy and research skills by competing in a professional and challenging environment. The purpose of organizing this competition is to help the participants nurture their prime advocacy skills. The Inaugural Ceremony of the event will be organized in a Physical Mode (subject In wake of the pandemic, we are holding the Competition Rounds at a Virtual Platform in order to ensure the safety of the participants.

Introduction

Moot court competitions provide an opportunity for curious law students to identify and redress the prospective legal issues presented as the moot problem. It aims to hone their problem-solving skills, encourages them to take upon the tasks of real lawyers, and deepen their knowledge of various legislations. Moot courts stimulate real-life proceedings, push the boundaries of one’s intellect, advocacy
skills, and emphasizes collective team efforts. Moot court competitions provide a foundation for students across different cities to compete and collaborate in a professional setting, to finesse and test their skills before they join the legal fraternity as the lawyers of tomorrow.

Objectives of 2nd National Moot Court Competition

  1. To facilitate practical learning and capacity building of the young law.
  2. To engage the youth in a learning ambiance during the covid-19 pandemic.
  3. To motivate law students all across India and encourage the holistic development of their interpersonal and professional skills.

Program Details

  • The competition is open for students who are pursuing LL.B three-year / five-year course during the current academic year.
  • Only one team is permitted to participate from each participating Institution.
  • Each team shall consist of three members. This number cannot be modified under any circumstances.
  • In a team consisting of three members, two members shall be designated as ‘Speakers,’ and the third member shall be designated as ‘Researcher.’
  • All the participating teams must confirm participation by filling a Registration Form on or before October 25, 2021.
  • As per the rules, each team upon completion of registration shall be allotted a unique Team Code for the competition. Each team must use the Team Code for further communication with the organizers during the course of the competition.
  • Any change in team composition must be intimated to the Organizer at the earliest through e-mail ([email protected]). Such change must be accompanied by a freshly filled registration form.
  • Participants will receive an approval email, signifying the acceptance of their request for participation latest by October 27, 2021.
  • The participating teams are required to pay Rs. 3,000/- as registration fees. The Last Date for Payment of Registration Fees is October 25, 2021.

Structure of Competition

The Competition shall consist of four rounds:
1 The Preliminary Round
2 The Quarter-Final Round
3 The Semi-Final Round and
4 The Final Round

1. Preliminary Round

The preliminary round will be held on 27th November 2021. All the teams will compete twice in the preliminary rounds. After competing, the best 8 teams will advance to the quarter-final round.

2. Quarter-Final Round

The best eight teams will qualify for the quarter-final, which will be held on 27th November 2021. After competing, the top 4 teams will advance to the semi-final round.

3. Semi-Final Round

The best four teams will qualify for the semi-final, which will be held on 28th November 2021. After competing, the top 2 teams will advance to the final round.

4. Final Round

The final round will be held on 28th November 2021. The best two teams will qualify for the finals. After competing, the team with the highest score will win the competition.

  1. Cash prize of Rs. 25,000/-
  2. One Year Subscription of SCC Online to each Team Member worth Rs. 24,000 each.
  3. One Month Internship Opportunity under Mr. Narender Hooda, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India to each Team Member.
  4. One free course of their choice each from the Memo Pundits.

Runner up

  1. Cash prize of Rs. 15,000/-
  2. One Year Subscription of EBC Learning to each Team Member worth Rs. 14,500 each.
  3. Rs. 1,500/- discount coupon on any one course of their choice each from the Memo Pundits.

Best Speaker

  1. Cash prize of Rs. 5,000/-
  2. Rs. 1,000/- discount on any one course of his/her choice from the Memo Pundits.

Best Researcher

  1. Cash prize of Rs. 5,000/-
  2. Rs. 1,000/- discount on any one course of his/her choice from the Memo Pundits.

Best Memorial

  1. Cash prize of Rs. 5,000/-

Note: Cash awards will be sent after getting details of winners such as Institution ID card & Bank Account details after the submission of due documents as required by the committee. It will be processed after the due process, followed by the organizers.
