25th Henry Dunant Memorial Moot Court Competition 2026 by ISIL New Delhi & International Committee of the Red Cross [Nov 20–22]

The Indian Society of International Law (ISIL) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) are organising the 25th Henry Dunant Memorial Moot Court Competition on International Humanitarian Law 2026 in physical mode from 20–22 November 2026. Institutions may nominate a team comprising three students and a coach/teacher. The registration form must reach ISIL by 17 August 2026.

About Organisers

Established in 1959, the Indian Society of International Law (ISIL) is a premier national institution for the teaching, research and promotion of international law. Its establishment was primarily due to the efforts of the late V.K. Krishna Menon.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is a humanitarian organisation founded in 1863 and based in Geneva, Switzerland, with a mandate to protect victims of international and internal armed conflicts.

About the Competition

The Indian Society of International Law (ISIL) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) have announced the 25th Henry Dunant Memorial Moot Court Competition on International Humanitarian Law.

The competition will be conducted in physical mode from 20 November to 22 November 2026.

Aim of the Moot Court Competition

The 2026 Henry Dunant Memorial Moot Court Competition aims to promote awareness and understanding of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) among law students and law faculties in India.

Over the years, the competition has provided law students with an opportunity to develop a better understanding of IHL through interaction with theorists and practitioners and to become acquainted with its practical application and enforcement.

The moot problem is normally based on contemporary issues and challenges relating to International Humanitarian Law.

Areas Covered

Participation in the moot involves research and detailed study of International Humanitarian Law treaties, including:

  • The 1949 Geneva Conventions;
  • Their 1977 Additional Protocols; and
  • Rules of customary international law applicable to the field.

Team Composition

Institutions are invited to participate by nominating a team consisting of:

  • Three students; and
  • One coach/teacher.

  • Last date for receipt of registration forms: 17 August 2026
  • Last date for clarifications on the moot problem: 17 August 2026
  • Last date for submission of memorials and counter memorials: 24 September 2026 (midnight)
  • Moot Court Competition: 20–22 November 2026

Memorial Submission

The memorials and counter memorials must be submitted online by 24 September 2026 (midnight) through email at [email protected].

Travel and Accommodation

Qualified teams are expected to self-arrange their travel to Delhi.

The organising committee will provide details regarding stay arrangements for the top 16 qualifying teams in due course.
