About the Organisers

The Moot Court Society, Ajmal Law College, Hojai is organising the 1st Ajmal National Moot Court Competition 2026. Established in 2024, the Moot Court Society aims to promote experiential legal education by developing students’ skills in advocacy, legal research, memorial drafting, analytical reasoning, and courtroom etiquette through moot court exercises, workshops, and competitions.

Ajmal Law College was established in 2018 under the aegis of the Ajmal Foundation. The college is affiliated with Gauhati University and approved by the Bar Council of India. The institution focuses on academic excellence and practical legal training, helping students bridge the gap between classroom learning and professional legal practice.

About the Competition

The 1st Ajmal National Moot Court Competition 2026 is a national-level moot court competition aimed at fostering legal scholarship and advocacy among law students across India.

The competition will provide participants an opportunity to argue a contemporary constitutional law problem before eminent academicians, legal practitioners, and judges. It is designed to strengthen participants’ legal research, memorial drafting, oral advocacy, critical analysis, and courtroom professionalism while encouraging academic interaction and healthy competition among law schools and universities.

Eligibility

The competition is open to students pursuing:

  • Three-Year LL.B. Programme; or
  • Five-Year Integrated LL.B. Programme.

A maximum of two teams from each institution may participate.

Team Composition

Each team shall comprise:

  • Two Speakers; and
  • One Researcher.

A team consisting of only two members shall designate both members as Speakers.

Registration Procedure

The registration process will be conducted in two stages.

Step 1: Provisional Registration

Interested teams must complete the Google Registration Form within the prescribed deadline. Selection of teams for the final registration stage will be made by the Organising Committee on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to verification of the information submitted and availability of slots.

Step 2: Final Registration

Selected teams will receive the Final Registration Form link through their registered email address. Only teams receiving this communication will be eligible to complete the final registration process.

To confirm participation, selected teams must:

  • Submit the online Final Registration Form;
  • Upload the duly filled Registration Form attached in the Competition Brochure, signed and sealed by the Head of the Institution;
  • Pay the prescribed registration fee and upload the payment receipt/transaction details; and
  • Complete all formalities within the stipulated deadline.

Registration shall be deemed complete only after successful verification of the submitted documents and payment by the Organising Committee. After confirmation, each participating team will be allotted a unique Team Code, which must be used in all future correspondence, memorial submissions, and throughout the competition.

Registration Fee

  • Without Accommodation: ₹2,000 per team
  • With Accommodation: ₹4,000 per team

The accommodation package includes meals as specified by the Organising Committee.

Prizes

The competition offers prizes worth over ₹4 lakhs, including cash awards, trophies, certificates, and exclusive academic benefits sponsored by the Knowledge and Legal Tech Partners. The cash prizes are worth over ₹2.45 lakhs.

  • Winner: Cash Prize of ₹1,00,000 + Winner’s Trophy + Certificate of Merit
  • Runner-up: Cash Prize of ₹75,000 + Runner-up Trophy + Certificate of Merit
  • Best Speaker: Cash Prize of ₹30,000 + Trophy + Certificate
  • Best Memorial: Cash Prize of ₹20,000 + Trophy + Certificate
  • Best Researcher: Cash Prize of ₹20,000 + Trophy + Certificate
