The Supreme Court of India has put forth a recommendation for Justice Wasim Sadiq Nargal to serve a fresh term as an Additional Judge of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

In an official resolution, the Collegium, comprising Chief Justice Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud along with Justices Sanjiv Khanna and B R Gavai, has proposed that Justice Wasim Sadiq Nargal be appointed as an Additional Judge for a term of one year, commencing from June 3, 2024.

On February 21, 2024, the Collegium of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh had recommended Justice Nargal for the same position. However, due to the absence of a vacancy for a Permanent Judge, the focus shifted to his continuation as an Additional Judge.

Following a meticulous evaluation in accordance with the Memorandum of Procedure, the Collegium reaffirmed Justice Nargal’s merit and suitability for this position. A Committee, consisting of two judges from the Supreme Court, meticulously reviewed Justice Nargal’s judgments and rated their quality as good.
