CRISP (BITS Law School) Invites Applications for Innovation Law and Policy Fellowship (1 April 2025)
BITS Law School (BITSLAW) has established a ‘Centre for Research in Innovation Law for Shared Prosperity’ (or, CRISP) in the BITS Pilani – Greater Mumbai Campus. CRISP undertakes cutting-edge research in high-tech innovation, patents, standardization, patent licensing, and analysing the emerging jurisprudence in India and around the world.
One of the initiatives of CRISP is a novel Innovation Law and Policy Fellowship. This fellowship aims to foster cutting-edge research in the intersection of IP law, technology innovation and policy. The 2025 fellowship focuses on 3 key areas:
- Role of IPRs in an innovation economy, with a focus on mobile communication technologies.
- Policy discourse and emerging jurisprudence on IPRs in mobile communication technologies.
- Creation and commercialization of IP in India by startups and SMEs, with a focus on patents.
This is an excellent opportunity for academicians, postdoctoral researchers, legal practitioners, Masters students, advanced graduate students, and researchers in the policy think tanks to engage in impactful, policy-relevant research.
The fellowship involves at least three round table meetings in hybrid mode where the fellows will be acquainted with the technology, policy landscape, legal discourse, jurisprudence, and business aspects. The meetings will also provide a forum for the fellows to discuss their work in progress before a panel of experts and receive feedback and comments.
The fellows will present their final work in the Conference scheduled at the end of the fellowship, which gets published in a SCOPUS indexed book. Each selected fellow will receive a stipend and one fellow who produces the best paper will receive a generous monetary award. For details, please visit CRISP.
We invite students, practitioners, and faculty to apply and be a part of the fellowship by sending a brief proposal (2 pages) and an updated CV to crisp[at]bitslawschool[dot]edu[dot]in by 1st April 2025.
Please feel free to reach out at crisp[at]bitslawschool[dot]edu[dot]in if you have any questions.
[Edit: Please note this is a non-residential fellowship.]
