Sidley advised International Paper Company on the US$1.5 billion sale of its Global Cellulose Fiber business.

The global law firm Sidley advised International Paper Company (IP) as global antitrust counsel in the US$1.5 billion sale of its Global Cellulose Fiber (GCF) business to American International Partners. The move aligns with IP’s strategy to focus on sustainable packaging solutions. The GCF business produces high-quality pulp used in towel and tissue products, diapers, feminine hygiene, incontinence items, and other personal care products, as well as specialty pulp for construction materials, paints, coatings, and industrial uses. The transaction is expected to close by the end of the year, subject to regulatory approvals.

The Sidley team was led by Jim Lowe, and included Jason Semmes, Miriam Carroll Silvestri, Murray Reeve, and Bethany Wise (all Antitrust and Competition).
