Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas represented Meditab Specialities in landmark Supreme Court settlement with State of Goa and GIDC
The leading law firm in India, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co. (SAM), represented Meditab Specialities Pvt. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Cipla Ltd., in connection with a long-standing dispute concerning the allotment of land in a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Goa. The matter was settled before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India on August 29, 2025, for an amount of INR 33 crore.
Meditab had originally been allotted land by the Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) for development within an SEZ. However, this allotment, along with others, was struck down by the Hon’ble Bombay High Court at Goa in 2010. Meditab challenged the ruling before the Supreme Court, where the matter remained pending for several years.
The Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas team was led by Manu Nair (Partner), with support from Neelabh Shreesh (Principal Associate), Simran Malhotra (Associate) and Aryan Roy (Associate).
