Ranajoy Basu joins SPB as Leading Structured Finance Partner Joins in London

The global law firmSquire Patton Boggshas announced that Ranajoy Basu will join its London office as Partner in the Financial Services Practice Group, taking on the roles of Global Head of Structured Finance and Head of the firm’s India practice. He joins from McDermott Will & Emery, where he was Head of Structured Finance and Chair of the India practice.

Widely recognised for his global finance expertise, Mr. Basu focuses on all types of structured finance arrangements and is a pioneer in impact investment, known for his work on cross-border social impact finance structures, sustainable procurement, and supply chain finance.

Commenting on the appointment, Jim Barresi, Global Head of the Financial Services Practice Group, said,

“We are delighted Ranajoy has joined us. He has an outstanding record of successfully advising leading financial institutions and alternative capital sources on complex, cross-border transactions. He is also well known for ground-breaking work in impact investment. This hire builds on the firm’s recent expansion of its Financial Services team, including Global Head of Private Capital and Direct Lending Gabriel Yomi Dabiri and a team in New York and Washington DC, Global Head of Financial Regulation Monica Gogna and team in London, and US-based funds specialist Cassandra W. Borchers.

Barresi further noted,

With nearly two decades of experience, Mr. Basu has advised global financial institutions, funds, non-bank lenders, private equity firms and corporates on complex structured finance transactions in multiple jurisdictions. His work spans private capital, securitisation, asset-backed finance (including digital technology and data financing), debt capital markets, and debt restructurings.

In addition to his mainstream finance work, Mr. Basu is an established leader in cross-border social impact finance, covering social and development impact bonds, renewable energy, and “green” structured finance deals. He has supported governments, NGOs, financial institutions, funds, foundations and charitable institutions worldwide on landmark projects.
