Kim & Chang Strengthens Cross-Border M&A Capabilities With Addition Of Partner Sang Jin Han And Team

South Korea’s largest law firm, Kim & Chang, has enhanced its cross-border Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) practice with the arrival of esteemed Partner Sang Jin Han and his team from U.S. firm Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton.

Han, who previously led Cleary’s M&A practice in Korea, specializes in advising domestic corporations and private equity investors on high-profile cross-border transactions. He brings with him a wealth of experience and a notable track record, having represented major deals such as NAVER’s joint venture with SoftBank, the integration of LINE and Z Holdings, and MBK Partners’ acquisitions of Daesung Industrial Gases, Homeplus, and ING Life Insurance Korea.

Joining Han in the move are M&A associates Ji-won Lim, Jae Sung Kim, and Ki Won Ahn, further strengthening Kim & Chang’s M&A team.

Han’s legal career spans over two decades, having started in Cleary Gottlieb’s New York office in 1996. He spent six years in the firm’s Hong Kong office before relocating to Seoul in 2014. With this new appointment, Han and his team are set to bolster Kim & Chang’s position in the global M&A landscape, solidifying the firm’s ability to handle complex cross-border transactions.
