Khaitan & Co Secures Bombay High Court Injunction for Skechers; Over 2,000 Fake Products Seized

The leading law firm in India, Khaitan & Co, represented Skechers South Asia Private Limited & Ors before the Hon’ble Bombay High Court, securing a significant injunction and leading the seizure of over 2,000 counterfeit Skechers products in Punjab. The firm’s swift legal action exposed and dismantled a large-scale counterfeit footwear operation promoted through social media platforms.

From Fake to Fallout: Skechers Fights Back

In a bold and strategic move to defend its brand and protect Indian consumers, Skechers successfully dismantled a sprawling counterfeit network in Punjab.

The crackdown began when Skechers uncovered a disturbing trend—social media influencers with thousands of followers were brazenly promoting and selling fake Skechers footwear. Among the most prominent were Honey Sethi and Prinkle, operating under the names Honey Sethi Shoes and Prinkle Shoe Hut, with multiple physical stores across Ludhiana District. Evidence revealed that these individuals were even offering franchises to distribute counterfeit Skechers products.

Bombay High Court’s Intervention

Recognizing the threat to its brand reputation and consumer trust, Skechers took immediate legal action. On October 10, 2025, the Hon’ble Bombay High Court granted an ex-parte injunction against the accused parties, including unnamed counterfeiters (John Doe/Ashok Kumar defendants). The Court further authorised a search and seizure operation targeting locations suspected of housing counterfeit goods.

Seizure Operation and Outcome

On October 16, 2025, Skechers—through its lawyers at Khaitan & Co, supported by local police authorities and Court-appointed Additional Special Receivers—executed simultaneous raids across 16+ locations in Punjab, including Ludhiana, Amritsar, Patiala, and surrounding districts. The coordinated operation led to the seizure of over 2,000 counterfeit products bearing the Skechers trademarks, marking a major victory in brand protection enforcement.

Khaitan & Co represented Skechers South Asia Private Limited & Ors before the Hon’ble Bombay High Court. The team included Ms. Smriti Yadav (Partner), along with Mr. Shubham Shende, Mr. Shubham Singh, and Mr. Hiren Kamod (Counsel).

Conclusion

This landmark operation underscores Skechers’ commitment to protecting its brand integrity and consumers from counterfeit goods while reinforcing Khaitan & Co’s expertise in IP enforcement and anti-counterfeiting litigation. The decisive, court-backed action sends a strong message to counterfeiters across India that trademark infringement and deceptive trade practices will not be tolerated.
