
Singapore: Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sandeep Moudgil, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court, and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ashok Kumar Jain, Judge, Rajasthan High Court, were felicited at the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) as part of an official delegation representing India’s growing engagement with global arbitration institutions.
The distinguished delegation also included Prof. (Dr.) Devinder Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Law University (DBRANLU), Sonepat, (Joined Online) and Prof. (Dr.) Ashutosh Mishra, Registrar was present at SIAC. The visit marked a significant step toward strengthening academic and institutional cooperation between Indian legal institutions and SIAC.
Meeting with SIAC Leadership
The Indian delegation was warmly received by Ms. Gloria Lim, Chief Executive Officer, SIAC, who honored the visiting dignitaries. SIAC representatives Mr. Rishabh Malviya, Counsel, and Ms. Ameline Ho, Senior Manager (Legal), were also present during the interaction.
The discussions centered on potential collaborative initiatives, including policy dialogues, awareness programs, student internships, and faculty exchange between DBRANLU Sonepat and SIAC. Both sides emphasized the need to promote alternative dispute resolution (ADR) as a primary mechanism for resolving commercial and civil disputes efficiently.
Strengthening ADR Mechanisms in India
During the meeting, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sandeep Moudgil and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ashok Kumar Jain highlighted India’s growing success in embracing ADR frameworks and the judiciary’s proactive role in promoting mediation and arbitration. They underscored that the Government of India and the Supreme Court of India are providing the necessary impetus to strengthen ADR systems nationwide, with High Courts actively encouraging settlements through arbitration, mediation, and conciliation.
The visit reflected India’s commitment to aligning its dispute-resolution ecosystem with international best practices, while fostering institutional partnerships that benefit law students, researchers, and professionals.
Future Outlook
SIAC expressed its intent to collaborate with DBRANLU Sonepat on upcoming training sessions, seminars, and joint initiatives aimed at enhancing global understanding of arbitration practices. The dialogue reinforced SIAC’s and DBRANLU’s shared goal of nurturing a new generation of legal professionals equipped with global ADR competencies.
