Integrating “Google Meet” with Gmail is abuse of its dominant position: Plea filed in CCI

A plea was filed by Mr. Baglekar Akash Kumar, a final year law student from University College of Law, Osmania University against Google alleging the abuse of dominant position by integrating its video conferencing app “Google Meet” with “Google Mail”.

The CCI (Competition Commission of India) asked the opposite parties namely, Google LLC and Google India Digital Services Ltd to respond to the complaint within 4 weeks.

The complaint was filed under section 19(1) (a) of the Competition Act, 2002 alleging the contravention of the provisions of section 4(2) (e) of the Competition Act, 2002.

Section 4(2) (e) of the Competition Act, 2002 provides that there shall be an abuse of dominant position if the dominant enterprise uses its dominant position in one relevant market to enter or protect another relevant market.
