IndusLaw has added Kochhar & Co partner Shabbeer Ahmed as a partner in its Hyderabad office.

The 2008 NLIU Bhopal graduate, who had joined Kochhar in 2015, specialises in civil and commercial litigation, particularly in bankruptcy code matters.

In a press release, Indus founding partner Suneeth Katarki said: “He will bolster our litigation practice as well as the overall client service capability in Hyderabad.

“He has very good and diversified experience of advising numerous institutional and corporate clients on various litigation matters and formulating risk mitigating strategies.”

Ahmed added: “IndusLaw is a tier 1 firm in several areas of practice and is also one of the fastest growing law firms in the country.

“I am looking forward to be part of firm’s growth story and quite excited to work with the great talent in the firm.”

According to Indus’ press release, he has appeared before high court, National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), civil courts, consumer forums and commissions, arbitration tribunals, debt recovery tribunals, labour courts and other fora.

According to the firm, “he has the distinction of representing the financial creditor in a case where the first ever liquidation order was passed by any NCLT in India after IBC has come into force”.

This latest hire takes IndusLaw to 47 partners and 180 fee-earners, following aggressive lateral hiring in recent months, particularly since October of last year:
