Paul Hastings Expands Energy & Infrastructure Practice with Ibaad Hakim Joining as Partner in Abu Dhabi
Paul Hastings LLP has announced the appointment of Ibaad Hakim (Partner – Energy & Infrastructure) to its Abu Dhabi office, continuing the firm’s strategic expansion of its global energy and infrastructure platform across the Middle East and Europe. Hakim joins from White & Case, bringing extensive experience advising on high-value oil and gas, infrastructure, and power projects, many of which are project-financed.
Dual-qualified in England & Wales and Pakistan, Hakim’s practice spans the full lifecycle of construction and engineering projects—from procurement strategy and contract drafting to dispute resolution. He advises sponsors, lenders, government bodies, contractors, and consultants, and is well-versed in diverse procurement models, including EPC/turnkey, construction management, and collaborative contracting under both standard form and bespoke agreements.

Hakim will collaborate with George Kazakov and Xavier Petet, who recently joined the Abu Dhabi and Paris offices respectively, as well as with the firm’s U.S. energy and infrastructure team led by Rob Freedman and Gregory Tan. Together, they will focus on delivering legal services to clients across the UAE, Europe, Asia, and the U.S.
