Gateley Middle East Expands in Dubai with Ex-Charles Russell Doha Head Alim Khamis
The global law firm, Gateley Middle East has appointed Alim Khamis as Partner and Head of its Dispute Resolution practice in Dubai. Alim joins the firm following his tenure as Managing Partner of Charles Russell Speechlys’ Doha office and brings extensive experience in complex, high-value disputes across multiple sectors and jurisdictions.
Experience
Alim Khamis currently serves as Partner and Head of Disputes (Middle East) at Gateley Middle East, based in Dubai, since March 2026. He is also a member of YPO since May 2023. Prior to Gateley, he was Partner and Head of Office at Charles Russell Speechlys, Doha (Jan 2023 – Nov 2025).
Alim spent over eight years at Dentons, progressing from Associate roles in Sydney and Dubai (2012–2020) to Partner in Construction and Dispute Resolution (2020–2022) in Vancouver. His early career included roles at Maddocks in Sydney, and an internship at the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia. Across these roles, Alim has specialised in construction, major project disputes, and high-value cross-border litigation and arbitration matters.
Education
Alim holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Government from McGill University (1999–2003) and an LLB (Hons), Law from University of Sydney (2006–2008).
