Former Coca-Cola Legal Director Sambit Swain Joins Vishal Mega Mart as GC

Sambit Swain, who recently resigned as Legal Director at Coca-Cola India, has joined retailer Vishal Mega Mart as its new General Counsel. The company announced the appointment in a stock exchange filing dated November 13, with Swain also being designated as part of the senior management team, effective immediately.

Swain brings over 16 years of legal experience across diverse sectors. At Coca-Cola India, he managed the company’s extensive franchise network of 14 bottlers and provided critical legal support to major brands including Thums Up, Maaza, Minute Maid, and Kinley. He also led Coca-Cola India’s litigation vertical, leveraging his expertise in franchise operations, marketing-related legalities, and high-stakes commercial matters to protect and advance the company’s interests.

Prior to Coca-Cola, Swain served as Head of Privacy (India) & Legal Counsel at Reckitt Benckiser India, overseeing legal, compliance, and regulatory matters for iconic brands such as Dettol and Harpic. He implemented robust data privacy frameworks and ensured GDPR compliance within the Indian regulatory environment. Gupta & Co., practicing in various courts across New Delhi.

Swain holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from Jindal Global Law School and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree. His extensive legal education and professional experience across leading corporates make him well-positioned to lead Vishal Mega Mart’s legal function and support the company’s growth strategy.

Vishal Mega Mart is a prominent Indian value retail chain that operates as a fashion-led hypermarket, providing a wide array of apparel, general merchandise, and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) at affordable prices.
