Former Ashurst Partner Joshua Cole Joins Baker Botts to Expand Global Digital Infrastructure Practice
The global law firm Baker Botts L.L.P. has strengthened its global digital infrastructure practice with the addition of Joshua Cole (Corporate Partner) in Singapore. Cole joins from Ashurst, where he led the Digital Economy Transactions practice in Asia, bringing over 25 years of experience advising on complex M&A and joint ventures in the telecommunications and digital infrastructure sectors across the Asia-Pacific region.
Joshua Cole frequently advises on high-profile matters involving domestic and international, fixed and mobile networks. His extensive track record includes leading transactions in jurisdictions throughout Asia-Pacific, including Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Hong Kong, Mainland China, Japan, Sri Lanka, and South Korea. He regularly acts as lead counsel on trans-Pacific and trans-Indian Ocean digital infrastructure projects and is highly skilled in submarine telecommunications cable transactions and associated infrastructure deals, having worked on some of the most significant subsea cable projects in the region over the last 25 years.
Cole, who also formerly served as Head of Corporate for Asia and Head of the Hong Kong office at Ashurst, becomes the latest former partner of that firm to join Baker Botts’ Singapore office.
Based in Singapore, Cole’s practice focuses on complex tech M&A and joint ventures across global markets, advising global tech companies, institutional investors, and infrastructure funds. He has worked with leading clients including Meta, Telstra, China Unicom, and Axiata on landmark transactions.
Danny David (Managing Partner) said,
“Our clients are scaling data centers and digital networks at an unprecedented pace, and Joshua’s experience sits right at the center of that. Technology transactions are getting larger and more complex, and Joshua has done this work at the highest level for decades. He is a perfect fit as we grow globally.”
Samantha Crispin (Firmwide Corporate Chair) said,
“Joshua’s addition is a game-changer for our digital infrastructure practice. He has led some of the most globally significant transactions in this space, reinforcing our ability to handle the full spectrum of work our clients need.”
