Chandhiok & Mahajan Elects Sujoy Bhatia as New Managing Partner, Effective October 1, 2025
The leading law firm Chandhiok & Mahajan (C&M) has announced the election of Sujoy Bhatia as its new Managing Partner, effective October 1, 2025.
Sujoy Bhatia succeeds Pooja Mahajan, who led the firm for the past eight years. While stepping down from the management role, Mahajan will continue to remain actively involved in firm strategy and client relationships. She is widely credited with transforming C&M into one of India’s most agile and respected full-service firms, known for its commercial acumen and collaborative culture.
Bhatia joined C&M in 2020 and currently leads the firm’s Corporate and Mergers & Acquisitions practices. A 21-year veteran of the legal industry, he has advised Indian and international businesses on high-stakes M&A, cross-border transactions, and complex regulatory mandates.
Pooja Mahajan, outgoing Managing Partner, said, “I can think of no better person than Sujoy to take C&M’s culture and ethos forward. After eight incredibly fulfilling years, it has been a rewarding journey, and I take great pride in what we have built together. Sujoy is an outstanding lawyer and a thoughtful leader—empathetic, principled, and commercially astute. The firm is in excellent hands.”
Sujoy Bhatia said, “I’m honoured by the trust the partnership has placed in me and will continue to draw on Pooja’s counsel as we guide the firm through the evolving demands of India’s legal landscape. C&M today is a 100-plus lawyer firm across four offices. My focus will be on continuing to build a democratic, merit-based, and future-ready institution.”
