The Centre for Art and Law Initiatives in collaboration with RFKN Legal and the German Institute for Art and Law (IFKUR) is hosting its Inaugural Conference- “Art Meets Law” on 31st January 2025, at the India International Centre, New Delhi. Please read below for their announcement.

Call for Registration: “Art Meets Law” Conference by Centre for Art and Law Initiatives in Collaboration with RFKN Legal and the German Institute for Art and Law (January 31)

The Centre for Art and Law Initiatives (CALI) in collaboration with RFKN Legal and the German Institute for Art and Law (IFKUR) is hosting its Inaugural Conference- “Art Meets Law” on 31st January 2025, at the India International Centre, New Delhi. The conference will consist of four distinguished lectures, keynote and special guest address, and a panel discussion.

The conference will have four distinguished lectures, the details of which are given below:

  1. Judicial Insight on Cases Concerning Art Works’ by Retd. Justice Anjana Prakash, Senior Advocate and Former Judge (Patna High Court)
  2. ‘Criminal Aspects of International Art’ by Mr. Alloys Kemo, OGW, Secretary of Public Prosecutions, Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), Kenya
  3. ‘Fakes, Forgeries and Art Works’ by Mr. N. Hariharan, Senior Advocate
  4. Commercial Aspects of Art and Law’ by Dr. Nicolai Kemle, Director, Institute for Art and Law (IFKUR, Germany)

The keynote address on ‘Repatriation and Restitution in India will be delivered by Mr. R. Venkataramani, Attorney General for India.

The special guest address on ‘Legal Efforts for the Repatriation of Stolen Art’, will be delivered by Mr. Renson M. Ingonga, Director and Head of Public Prosecution, Kenya

This will be followed by a panel discussion on the ‘Various Challenges of Repatriation and Restitution of Art Works’ with policy, legal and academic experts:
