Arcelor Mittal Mumbai-based vice president legal and effective regional general counsel Sapan Gupta, who had joined in January 2020 from Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, has been promoted to group general counsel based in London, moneycontrol and others reported yesterday.

He will be based in London and heading up a large global legal team, with responsibilities for legal, compliance and secretarial for the global footprint of around 60 countries, in which it produces natural resources in 20.

We understand he will be reporting to the global CFO of the London-listed Arcelor Mittal and working with its CEO.

At Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas he was national practice head of banking and finance since 2015, after several years of growing and heading up legal at Bajaj Finserv and Standard Chartered.
