About HPNLU Journal of Tax Law
The HPNLU Journal of Tax Law is an annual double-blind peer-reviewed journal of the HPNLU Centre for Law, Business and Economics. The journal promotes scholarly research in tax laws, including international taxation and tax policies. It encourages research and discussion by academicians, professionals, practitioners and researchers.
The Journal aims to provide a forum for intellectual discourse on tax laws and policies, along with state welfare policies and their impact on persons, with a view to contributing towards better tax policies in India. HPNLU Journal of Tax Law bears ISSN: 2584-0428.
About the Call for Papers
The HPNLU Journal of Tax Law has invited scholarly contributions from academicians, scholars, professionals and policymakers for its Volume V (2026), which is scheduled to be published online by December 2026.
The Journal solicits scholarly contributions relating to legal-cum-theoretical developments in the field of taxation laws and policies. Selection of entries will be based on a double-blind peer review.
Categories for Submission
Contributions may be made in the form of articles, essays and comments, and book reviews. In every category, the contribution should provide a comprehensive and in-depth analysis of contemporary issues in tax laws and related policies, including international taxation.
- Articles: 6,000 words or more but less than 10,000 words.
- Essays & Comments: 4,000 words or more but less than 6,000 words.
- Book Review: 3,000 words or more but less than 4,000 words. A contribution under this category is required to be made along with the new hard copy of the book.
Submission Guidelines
- Submissions shall be accepted only in the English language.
- All contributions must be accompanied by an abstract of 250–300 words.
- The abstract must expressly include the novelty and usefulness of the idea that the author wishes to put forth and must categorically mention the specific contribution of the article beyond the existing available literature.
- Co-authorship is permitted up to one co-author only.
- The manuscript should not contain any references to the identity of the author.
- The body of the manuscript should be in Times New Roman, font size 12, with 1.5-line spacing.
- Footnotes should be in Times New Roman, font size 10, with single-line spacing.
- Authors must follow the HPNLU-Shimla Citation Style.
- Manuscripts should use footnotes only as a means of citation. No other citation method is permitted.
- Lengthy quotations are discouraged and should be kept to a minimum wherever necessary, with full and proper acknowledgement.
- Lengthy and multi-paragraphed footnotes are discouraged.
- Citations must mention the page(s) of the source. Where court judgments are referred to, the footnote should also mention the paragraph of the judgment in addition to the page number of the Reporter.
- Only authoritative websites may be cited. References to internet sources such as Wikipedia, blogs and commercial websites are not acceptable.
- Manuscripts having more than 10% similarity will be rejected.
Citation Style
Contributors are required to follow the HPNLU-Shimla Citation Style. The prescribed citation style can be accessed at: [HPNLU-Shimla Citation Style]
Covering Letter
- Author(s) must submit a covering letter mentioning the title of the paper, name, designation, details of the author(s), and institutional affiliation.
- The author(s) must also solemnly declare that the manuscript is original and that it has neither been published nor submitted for publication elsewhere.
- Paraphrasing another author’s work shall not be considered original work, and the source must be duly acknowledged.
Copyright
- The copyright in all articles published in the volume shall vest in the owner of the Journal.
- The contributor has to cover the risk of being sued for copyright infringements, including defamation or contempt, and shall be liable to suffer the losses if caused by violating copyright.
