About Tamil Nadu Forest and Wildlife Crime Control Bureau

The Tamil Nadu Forest and Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (TNFWCCB) is a specialised intelligence and enforcement agency under the Tamil Nadu Forest Department at Chennai.

The Bureau has invited applications from eligible persons for engagement to temporary positions on a contractual basis for the year 2026-27. The engagement is purely temporary and contractual for a period of one year, subject to assessment and extension at the end of the tenure.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B./B.L.) from a University recognized by the Bar Council of India.
  • Enrolment as an Advocate with a State Bar Council.

Work Experience

Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in legal practice, legal research, litigation or related legal work.

Desirable Experience and Knowledge

  • Experience in criminal law, prosecution, investigation or court-related matters.
  • Knowledge/experience in the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, Indian Forest Act, 1927, Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 and other relevant forest and environmental laws.
  • Experience in drafting legal opinions, notices, petitions, affidavits, replies and other legal documents.
  • Experience in handling wildlife crime/forest offence cases and coordination with investigating agencies and prosecution authorities.
  • Knowledge of judicial precedents and case-law research, particularly relating to wildlife and environmental offences.

Age Limit

The prescribed age limit for the Legal Officer (Young Professional-II) position is 40 years.

Selection Process

Selection will be based on:

  • Shortlisting of applications based on educational qualifications, experience, suitability for the post and Practical Skill Assessment, where applicable.
  • Personal Interview.

The date and time of the interview will be intimated individually by e-mail to shortlisted candidates.

Nature of Engagement

The engagement is purely temporary and contractual for a period of one year, subject to assessment and extension at the end of the tenure.

Salary

The Legal Officer (Young Professional-II) will receive Rs.45,000/- per month (Consolidated).

  • Application status and, for shortlisted candidates, the interview call letter will be available on the portal after signing in with the same e-mail.
