
20th August 2026, Prayagraj: Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University, Prayagraj (RPNLU) has expanded its academic faculty with the appointment of 12 Assistant Professors, taking the University’s total academic strength to 18 faculty members.
Of the 18 faculty members, 14 are from the discipline of Law, while four specialise in Social Sciences, strengthening the University’s interdisciplinary approach to contemporary legal education.
New Faculty Members Join the University
The newly appointed faculty members are Dr. Aakriti Sharma, Dr. Astha Misra, Dr. Garima Singh, Dr. Gaurav Kumar, Dr. Gaurav Singh Sachan, Dr. Keerty Dabbas, Dr. Nikita Chaudhary, Dr. Ravi Prakash Rahul, Dr. Swati Kumari Mawandiya, Dr. Vivek Trivedi, Ms. Tanya Sagar and Mr. Yash Saxena.
According to the University, the newly appointed faculty members have assumed their academic responsibilities and have already commenced teaching. Besides classroom teaching, they have also begun contributing to institutional administration through various University committees and academic and co-curricular initiatives.
Faculty Brings Experience from Leading Institutions
The new faculty members bring academic credentials and institutional experience from several leading institutions, including the University of Delhi, University of Allahabad, Banaras Hindu University, University of Lucknow, Gautam Buddha University, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow, National Law University Jodhpur, National Law University Delhi, National Law University Odisha and the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, among other universities and law schools.
Their areas of specialised knowledge include Human Organ Transplantation, Emerging Challenges in Consumer Protection, Data Privacy and Protection, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, Forensic Evidence, Medical Jurisprudence, FinTech and the Regulation of Digital Business and Emerging Technologies.
The University said expertise in these emerging and specialised areas is expected to strengthen its teaching and research environment.
Academic Session Begins with Expanded Faculty
The 2026–27 academic session commenced on August 1, 2026, with a calendar of academic, co-curricular and student-centric activities. The expansion of the faculty is expected to enhance teaching, research, mentoring and institutional engagement at the University.
RPNLU currently offers a five-year integrated B.A. LL.B. programme, LL.M. and Ph.D. programmes. The University aims to develop as a centre of excellence in legal education, research and scholarship while creating an academically stimulating and professionally enriching environment for students.
Permanent Campus Development Progressing at Jhalwa
The University is presently functioning from its transit campus. Its permanent campus at Jhalwa, however, is progressing rapidly, with the University expecting to enter a new phase of institutional growth from the forthcoming academic session.
“The transition to the permanent campus is expected to provide the University with enhanced academic and infrastructural capabilities and further strengthen its pursuit of excellence in legal education, research and innovation,” said Sh. Varun Kumar Pandey, Registrar of the University.
The Registrar said the development of the state-of-the-art permanent campus has received significant impetus from the support and efforts of Shri Yogi Adityanath Ji, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Hon’ble Chairperson of the University.
