School of Law, SGT University is organising the Ram Behari Gupta Memorial National Civil Drafting Competition 2026, focusing on civil drafting under the Specific Relief Act, 1963. Law students pursuing integrated five-year law programmes or the three-year LL.B. programme are eligible to participate. The last date for registration is 19 September 2026.
About the Competition
The School of Law, SGT University has announced the Ram Behari Gupta Memorial National Civil Drafting Competition 2026. The competition is designed to test participants’ ability to engage with practical civil litigation issues through drafting, legal analysis and procedural strategy.
Theme
The theme of the competition is:
“Law of Specific Performance and Connected Reliefs of Declaration/Injunction and Alternative Relief of Recovery of Damages under the Specific Relief Act, 1963 in Matters Relating to Urban and Rural Properties.”
Why Participate?
The competition seeks to take participants beyond formulaic drafting by testing their ability to analyse disputed timelines, evaluate readiness and willingness, balance primary and alternative claims, and exercise real-world litigation judgment.
Participants will be required to prepare balanced, dual-sided pleadings for both the Plaintiff and Defendant, along with a strategic Procedural Strategy Memorandum.

The competition is open to law undergraduate students pursuing:
- B.A. LL.B.
- B.B.A. LL.B.
- B.Com. LL.B.
- LL.B. (3-Year)
Prizes
The competition has a total prize pool of ₹85,000, along with trophies.
- Winner: ₹50,000 + Trophy
- 1st Runner-Up: ₹25,000 + Trophy
- 2nd Runner-Up: ₹10,000 + Trophy
Certificates of Participation will be provided for all entries.
