Online registration for the examination will commence on 19 August 2026, while the examination is scheduled to be held on 29 November 2026. Candidates who have enrolled with a State Bar Council and wish to obtain the Certificate of Practice (CoP) must qualify the AIBE. What is AIBE?
The All India Bar Examination (AIBE) is a certification examination conducted by the Bar Council of India (BCI) under the Advocates Act, 1961.
The examination is mandatory for advocates enrolled with any State Bar Council who wish to receive the Certificate of Practice (CoP), enabling them to practise law in India.
Unlike competitive entrance examinations, AIBE assesses whether a law graduate possesses the minimum professional knowledge required to practice as an advocate.

Who Can Apply?
Candidates are eligible to appear for AIBE XXII if they:
- Hold an LL.B. degree from a recognised university.
- Are enrolled with a State Bar Council.
- Possess a valid enrolment certificate.
- Meet the eligibility conditions prescribed by the Bar Council of India.
Purpose of AIBE
The examination aims to:
- Assess the basic legal knowledge of newly enrolled advocates.
- Ensure minimum professional standards before independent legal practice.
- Grant the Certificate of Practice (CoP) to successful candidates.
