About the Competition
The CNLU-CARCIL National CIRP Simulation Competition 2026 is being organised as part of the CNLU-CARCIL National Corporate Fest, CNCF’26.
It is a practice-oriented competition intended to equip participants with essential insolvency resolution, commercial and strategic decision-making skills within the evolving insolvency and restructuring landscape. The competition will simulate real-world Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process proceedings under the insolvency and bankruptcy framework.
Through experiential learning, the competition seeks to develop practical competencies and prepare participants for the requirements of modern insolvency and restructuring practice. Prizes and other recognitions will be awarded to participants.
Team Structure
Each team must consist of two members. Both members will be assigned distinct and fixed roles corresponding to key participants in an actual CIRP proceeding.
- One member will act as the Interim Resolution Professional and Resolution Professional.
- The other member will act as the Resolution Applicant.
Participants must strictly follow the responsibilities and limitations attached to their assigned roles throughout all rounds of the competition.
Structure of the Competition
The competition will be conducted in the following three stages:
Stage I: Resolution Plan Submission
Teams must submit a Resolution Plan within the prescribed timeline along with the initial registration fee.
Stage II: Preliminary Simulation Round
Based on the evaluation of the submissions received during Stage I, the top 24 teams will qualify for the Preliminary Simulation Round. This stage will be conducted virtually.
Stage III: Quarter-Final and Final Rounds
The top eight teams from the Preliminary Simulation Round will qualify for the on-campus stage.
During this stage, participants will take part in advanced simulation rounds involving complex and real-world-inspired insolvency and restructuring scenarios. The on-campus rounds are scheduled to be held on September 4, 2026.
Eligibility
The competition is open to the following categories of students:
- Students pursuing a full-time three-year or five-year LL.B. programme from a university recognised by the Bar Council of India or the relevant statutory authority.
- Students enrolled in LL.M. programmes offered by recognised universities duly accredited by the University Grants Commission.
- Undergraduate or postgraduate students pursuing Finance, Management, Economics or allied disciplines from recognised universities.
Registration Details
Interested teams are required to register for the competition through the prescribed registration process before the applicable deadline.
Teams must complete the final registration and submit their Resolution Plan by July 19, 2026.
Registration Fee
- At the time of final registration and submission of the Resolution Plan: Rs. 2,000 per team.
- After qualifying for the Preliminary Simulation Round as one of the top 24 teams: Rs. 3,000 per team.
