
Jabalpur, June 12, 2026: Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU), Jabalpur, took another significant step towards its vision of building a sustainable and environmentally responsible campus with a tree plantation drive at its upcoming Dumna campus near Dumna Airport.
The plantation ceremony witnessed the participation of several distinguished members of the judiciary and academia, underscoring the University’s commitment to environmental conservation and holistic institutional development.
Leading the initiative, Hon’ble Shri Justice Vivek Rusia, Acting Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court and Chancellor of DNLU, planted a sapling at the campus site. Joining him were Hon’ble Shri Justice Aniruddha Bose, Director of the National Judicial Academy and Former Judge of the Supreme Court of India, and Hon’ble Shri Justice Rajendra Menon, Chairperson of the Armed Forces Tribunal, New Delhi, and Former Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court.
The saplings planted during the ceremony were described as symbols of DNLU’s growth, progress and promising future.
Several judges of the Madhya Pradesh High Court also participated in the plantation drive alongside the Acting Chief Justice. These included Hon’ble Shri Justice A.K. Singh, Hon’ble Shri Justice Pramod Kumar Agarwal, Hon’ble Shri Justice Devnarayan Mishra, and Hon’ble Shri Justice Himanshu Joshi.
Adding further significance to the event, Prof. (Dr.) S. Shanthakumar, Director of Gujarat National Law University (GNLU), marked his presence during the plantation programme.
The event was attended by senior officials and dignitaries, including Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha, Vice-Chancellor of DNLU; Shri Dharminder Singh, Registrar General of the Madhya Pradesh High Court; Dr. Praveen Tripathi, Registrar of DNLU; and Shri J.S. Baghel, Chief Engineer (Buildings), Public Works Department, Jabalpur.
Chancellor Reviews Progress of DNLU’s Upcoming Dumna Campus
During the visit, Chancellor Justice Vivek Rusia reviewed the ongoing construction work at the university’s upcoming campus. Officials informed him that the first phase of the project has already been completed, while the second phase has commenced and is expected to be completed within the next two years.
The Chancellor expressed his expectation that the construction work be completed at the earliest, enabling the institution to accelerate its academic and infrastructural expansion plans.
The upcoming Dumna campus is envisioned as a modern educational hub with a strong focus on sustainability, environmental stewardship and world-class infrastructure.
DNLU Reaffirms Commitment to Environmental Sustainability
The tree plantation initiative reflects DNLU’s broader commitment to environmental responsibility and the creation of a clean, green and sustainable campus ecosystem. The University stated that the plantation drive aligns with the values embodied in its motto, “Satyam Vada, Dharmam Chara” (Speak Truth, Follow Righteousness).
University authorities highlighted that the development of the new campus will not only strengthen legal education infrastructure in Madhya Pradesh but also promote ecological consciousness among future generations of legal professionals.
University Expresses Gratitude to Judges and PWD Officials
DNLU extended its sincere gratitude to all the Hon’ble Judges and distinguished guests who participated in the programme and contributed to the cause of environmental conservation.
The University also acknowledged the support of Shri Manish Sharma, Executive Engineer, Public Works Department, and Shri Alok Yadav, Engineer, Public Works Department, along with their entire team, for their invaluable assistance in successfully facilitating the tree plantation programme.
With the plantation of these saplings, DNLU’s upcoming Dumna campus gains not only greenery but also a symbolic foundation representing growth, sustainability and the institution’s aspirations for the future.
