DSK Legal Successfully Defends B62 Studios Private Limited in Delhi High Court Interim Injunction Plea Over “Tirchi Topiwale” Song
The leading law firm in India, DSK Legal successfully represented B62 Studios Private Limited before the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi in proceedings arising out of allegations of copyright infringement concerning the song “Tirchi Topiwale” used in the film “Dhurandhar: The Revenge”.
Case Background
Trimurti Films Pvt Ltd (“Trimurti”) filed a Suit and Interim Applications before the Hon’ble Delhi High Court, inter alia alleging that B62 Studios Private Limited and the other defendants’ use of the song “Tirchi Topiwale” (“said Song”), in its original form as well as in a remixed version, in B62’s film titled “Dhurandhar: The Revenge” constitutes an infringement of Trimurti’s copyright in the said Song. In the Interim Application, Trimurti sought ad-interim and interim reliefs, inter alia, seeking to restrain B62 and the other defendants from exploiting the said Song in the Film.
Proceedings Before the Court
After hearing the parties at considerable length, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Tushar Rao Gedela, vide order dated May 14, 2026, refused to grant any interim relief in favour of Trimurti and/or against B62 Studios Private Limited or the other defendants and accordingly disposed of the Interim Application filed by Trimurti.
Team
The matter was argued by Senior Counsel Mr. Ravi Prakash and Counsel Mr. Nizam Pasha.
The DSK Legal team comprised Parag Khandhar (Partner), Chandrima Mitra (Partner), Diva Chanchani, and Anaheeta Verma, along with assistance from Shweta Vora from the in-house legal team of B62 Studios Private Limited.
Conclusion
This order reflects the Hon’ble Court’s approach in declining interim restraint in copyright disputes where the threshold for injunctive relief is not met at the interlocutory stage, thereby allowing continued exploitation of the impugned work pending final adjudication.
