Supreme Court Drops AOR Exam 2026; Next Cycle Expected in 2027

The Supreme Court of India, Advocates-on-Record Examination Cell, has issued a notice dated 30 April 2026, informing that the Advocates-on-Record Examination will not be conducted in the year 2026. The AOR Examination is a mandatory qualifying test for advocates seeking the right to file and act independently before the Supreme Court.

According to the notice, the decision has been taken by the Competent Authority after considering the overall strength of Advocates-on-Record (AORs).

The notice further states that the schedule and dates of the next AOR Examination, likely to be held in 2027, will be notified in due course.

As a result, aspiring advocates who intended to appear for the AOR Examination in 2026 will have to await the next official notification from the Supreme Court of India regarding the 2027 examination cycle.
