Aditya Kurian, Ex O’Melveny Counsel, Launches Accord Partners in Asia

Aditya Kurian, former Counsel at O’Melveny & Myers LLP, has launched Accord Partners, marking the establishment of a new arbitration-focused practice in Asia. The firm was initiated as a solo venture on March 13, 2026, and is currently building its regional footprint.

Kurian brings significant experience in international arbitration, litigation, and investigations, having spent nearly nine years at O’Melveny & Myers LLP in Hong Kong, where he most recently served as Counsel. During his tenure, he advised clients on complex cross-border disputes and high-stakes arbitration matters. Prior to this, he served as Counsel and Head of India Region at the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), where he played a key role in administering arbitration proceedings and strengthening India-related arbitration work.

Sharing his thoughts on the new venture, Kurian said,

“My clients, including law firms and commercial entities, have responded very positively. For instance, I am currently co-counselling with the Indian law firm Jerome Merchant + Partners (JM+P) on several SIAC arbitrations (governed by Singapore law and seated in Singapore) that were recently consolidated. I am also acting for a UAE-headquartered cryptocurrency exchange in an international dispute. It’s been an encouraging launch with significant growth potential ahead.”

Earlier in his career, Kurian worked with AZB & Partners in India, where he gained experience in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, foreign investment, and general corporate matters. Kurian holds an LL.M. from Duke University School of Law and a B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) from the National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata.

With the launch of Accord Partners, Kurian aims to build a specialised disputes practice focused on international arbitration, catering to clients across Asia and beyond.

Accord Partners is an international arbitration consultancy launched in early 2026 by Aditya Kurian. The firm is designed as a specialized practice focusing on complex international commercial disputes, positioning itself as a high-value alternative for clients and law firms seeking elite expertise without the conflict-of-interest constraints or high overhead of “Big Law” firms.
