Charles Russell Speechlys Appoints Jonathan Huth as Partner to Strengthen Middle East Presence

The global law firm, Charles Russell Speechlys has announced the appointment of Jonathan Huth as Partner in the firm’s Litigation team in Dubai. Jonathan joins from Howard Kennedy, where he led the firm’s Middle East practice, marking the tenth international Partner hire for Charles Russell Speechlys in 2025.

Jonathan is an accomplished lawyer with extensive experience in cross-border investigations, disputes, judgment enforcement, asset recovery, financial crime, whistleblowing, and regulatory enforcement matters for clients across the UK, Europe, and Africa. He brings deep knowledge of the financial sector, having handled complex matters involving securities and financial fraud, market manipulation (including foreign exchange, benchmark, and Libor), bribery and corruption, money laundering, and financial fraud.

Prior to his time in private practice, Jonathan served as Senior In-House Counsel at HSBC in London in the Global Investigations Group and as a Senior Trial Attorney for the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission. His diverse professional background enables him to provide unique insight across regulatory, enforcement, and high-risk jurisdictional matters.

His client base includes high-net-worth individuals, sovereign governments, corporations, C-suite executives, and global financial institutions in the EU, UK, and US, often involving reputation management and cross-border due diligence. As a US-qualified lawyer, Jonathan bridges the gap between US-facing regulatory work and investigations in emerging markets across the Middle East and Africa.

Stewart Hey (Partner and Divisional Managing Partner, Litigation and Dispute Resolution) commented,

“As our focus on international expansion continues to grow, particularly in the financial crime and investigations space, a hire of Jonathan’s calibre will serve to strengthen our global capabilities as a division around the world, including the US and the Middle East.”

Patrick Gearon (Partner and Head of the Middle East Practice) said,

“Jonathan’s arrival is a significant boost to our Middle East practice. His extensive network and expertise in the region will significantly deepen our engagement with UHNW individuals and multinational corporations facing cross-border disputes.”

Commenting on his appointment, Jonathan Huth said,

“Charles Russell Speechlys provides an exceptional platform for my practice, with a strong international reputation in areas and jurisdictions that align with my interests, particularly in Africa and the Middle East. I look forward to working with the Firm to leverage these synergies, expanding existing client relationships and strategically targeting complex disputes, investigations, reputation management, and cross-border matters across key sectors such as financial services, mining, and energy.”
