Actor Abhishek Bachchan has filed a plea before the Delhi High Court seeking protection of his personality rights, following a similar petition by his wife, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The actor has requested a ban on the unauthorised use of his name, image, voice, photographs, and performances by websites, YouTube channels, e-commerce platforms, and other digital outlets for commercial or personal gain.
During a brief hearing, Justice Tejas Karia noted that any takedown order against Google and other platforms would require Bachchan to provide specific URLs carrying the infringing content. His lawyer, advocate Pravin Anand, assured the court that the details would be submitted promptly.
The plea highlights growing concerns over misuse of celebrity identity online, including the sale of merchandise, wallpapers, videos, and the creation of AI-generated and deepfake content using Abhishek Bachchan’s likeness.
The actor has urged the court to safeguard his personality rights, stressing that his name, image, likeness, signature, voice, and performances are integral to his identity and should not be exploited without consent.
This move comes just days after Aishwarya Rai Bachchan sought similar protection against the unauthorised commercial use of her persona.
