Werksmans Advised EXSA on 155MW Mpumalanga Wind Project PPA

A leading South African corporate and commercial law firm, Werksmans Attorneys, has advised licensed energy trader Energy Exchange of Southern Africa Proprietary Limited (EXSA) and its stakeholders, Rand Merchant Bank (RMB) and Remgro, in connection with the successful negotiation and execution of its Customer Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Seriti Green Energy Proprietary Limited and Ummbila Emoyeni Three (RF) Proprietary Limited.

The agreement follows the financial close of the 155MW wind energy project in Mpumalanga, valued at approximately ZAR 5 billion.

The transaction structure enables EXSA to purchase electricity from multiple generation facilities for onward sale to its customer portfolio, supporting a more flexible and market-oriented approach to energy procurement and distribution in South Africa.

The Werksmans Attorneys team included Chris Moraitis (Director and Head of Infrastructure & Energy) and Zoë Austen (Associate).
