Shahin Foroughian Joins Bird & Bird as Partner in Singapore to Boost Corporate Practice
International law firm Bird & Bird has announced the appointment of Shahin Foroughian as a partner in its Singapore office, further strengthening its corporate offering in Southeast Asia. Foroughian joins from Norton Rose Fulbright, where he was a Counsel, and brings with him a wealth of experience in cross-border M&A and corporate transactions.
With a practice that spans mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, joint ventures, strategic alliance arrangements, and corporate governance, Foroughian is particularly focused on cross-border matters across Southeast Asia and Japan. His sectoral strengths include energy and utilities, financial services, and insurance, having advised insurers on warranty and indemnity insurance in M&A transactions.
Foroughian began his legal career at New Zealand-based Simpson Grierson and has also held roles at Reed Smith and in-house at Transfield Services. He joined Norton Rose Fulbright in 2019 and has since built a solid reputation for handling complex transactions in the region.
His addition increases Bird & Bird’s Singapore office strength to 27 lawyers, including 13 partners.
Jeremy Tan, Managing Partner of Bird & Bird’s Singapore office, said,
“Shahin’s appointment reflects our commitment to strengthening and growing our corporate offering in the region. I believe that our clients and team will benefit tremendously from Shahin’s extensive experience in M&A across Southeast Asia. His deep sector experience in energy and financial institutions aligns perfectly with our strategic focus and reinforces our cross-border client offering.”
