Matthew Pitman joins Simmons & Simmons as Head of Asset Management and Investment Funds
Simmons & Simmons has announced the appointment of Matthew Pitman as the new head of its Asset Management and Investment Funds (AMIF) sector, effective 6 May 2025.
Matthew, who joined the firm in 2014 and has been a partner for over a decade, is a specialist investment funds lawyer with a focus on private funds across various asset classes. His practice spans both transactional and investment work, advising on numerous investment vehicles and assisting global institutional investors on investments exceeding US$100 billion.
Prior to this appointment, Matthew led the firm’s Institutional Investors sub-sector group, overseeing significant growth. He succeeds Robert Turner, who has held the role since 2019.
Simmons & Simmons is recognised as a leading law firm in the asset management sector, advising over 85% of the largest 50 global asset managers, major hedge funds across Europe and the US, private fund managers, and some of the world’s largest institutional investors.
Commenting on his appointment, Matthew Pitman said:
“It’s a great privilege to have been appointed to lead a sector that is so central to the identity and global offering of Simmons. Under Robert Turner’s leadership, the firm has consolidated its frontrunner status in the sector, expanding its network to advise a wider pool of asset managers. My objective is to build on this success, ensuring that the firm continues to innovate to support clients’ complex and evolving global needs.”
Managing Partner Emily Monastiriotis said,
“Matthew is a great leader and is deeply integrated into the sector, having steered leading global clients through major investments for over two decades. I look forward to working closely with him to expand our unrivalled offering in the AMIF sector.”
