L&L Partners gung-ho on green initiatives

Apart from adopting ESG practices, it is working on paperless exercise through the ‘grow trees’ initiative

Indian law firm L&L Partners has set up an Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) practice and a ‘Green Project‘ committee to integrate its business strategies and processes with green initiatives. The law firm has set a carbon-zero target across all its offices, both internally and externally.

For a sustainable future, it has partnered with EQ Magazine, Renewable Watch Magazine, and the India Wind Energy Forum. It is, thereby, sharing insights with leading corporates on renewable energy, carbon technologies, and a regulatory regime.

With the motto and the legacy of giving back to society as envisioned by Rajiv Luthra, the Founder and Managing Partner at L&L Partners, the firm had earlier started The Paani Foundation together with Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and his ex-wife Kiran Rao.

The organization also initiated the project of watershed management with 116 villages in Maharashtra. Presently covering over 6,000 villages, these efforts have created over 550 billion litres of water storage capacity in the State.

Along with other such initiatives, the firm is actively working on paperless practices, providing a greener environment by way of the ‘grow trees’ initiative, and advice on sustainable projects.

To L&L goes the credit for acting on the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA’s) Rs.268 crore financial assistance to Blu-Smart Mobility. It was the first deal under IREDA’s scheme to finance new and emerging technologies that promote and increase the usage of renewable energy in the transport sector.

In addition, the law firm advised Neev Fund on their investment in Chakr Innovation, a leading climate technology company. Chakr deals in combating air pollution and KKR-backed Virescent Renewable Energy Trust in India’s first-ever non-convertible debenture issue in a renewable energy infrastructure investment trust.

Apart from its green initiatives, in the last couple of months, L&L Partners has increased its strength of lawyers with three more partners, eleven associates, and seven professionals.
