The Supreme Court has adjourned a recent plea seeking an extra chance for civil service aspirants in giving the UPSC exams due to the current pandemic situation. Due to the age limit and ongoing pandemic, many other pleas were made since it may be the last exam for many aspirants. Therefore, an exception needs to be made for them. A 3-judge bench comprised of Justices AM Khanwilkar, BR Gavai, and Krishna Murari. They heard the submission presented by Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, who represents the Center. The Center sent out instructions seeking an adjournment to the first week of February since the government is actively considering this problem. The Bench told the Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi (petitioners’ side), to be prepared for the next session on the 22nd. The Bench went on to title the case as “Rachna Singh v Union of India.” The final decision will be made on 22nd until the Centre and UPSC come to a decision.
