6th N.C. Sikri Memorial Essay Competition 2025 by Campus Law Centre Alumni Association [Submit by Sep 21]

Campus Law Centre Alumni Association (CLCAA) is organizing the 6th edition of the N.C. Sikri Memorial Essay Competition, inviting submissions from students and young alumni of the prestigious Campus Law Centre (CLC), Faculty of Law, University of Delhi.

About the Competition

This year’s competition coincides with the Association’s seventh Foundation Day and continues its tradition of fostering scholarly debate on contemporary legal issues. The event is sponsored by Hon’ble Mr. Justice A.K. Sikri, Judge, SICC, Singapore Supreme Court and Former Judge, Supreme Court of India, in memory of Shri N.C. Sikri, a distinguished senior advocate and proud CLC alumnus.

Shri N.C. Sikri was a highly respected senior advocate who practiced primarily before the Supreme Court of India and the Delhi High Court, while also appearing in almost all High Courts across the country. Known for his deep legal acumen and dedication to the profession, Shri Sikri exemplified the finest traditions of the bar, inspiring generations of lawyers through his work and mentorship. The memorial essay competition stands as a tribute to his enduring legacy in the field of law.

About CLCAA

CLCAA, a registered alumni body, was founded to promote and strengthen the interests of CLC and its vibrant legal community. Over the years, it has grown into a key platform connecting students, alumni, and members of the legal fraternity, fostering mentorship, engagement, and excellence in legal scholarship.

The CLCAA is led by an eminent group of legal professionals and academicians, including President Shri Rakesh Munjal, Sr. Adv., Vice Presidents Shri Satish Parasaran, Sr. Adv., Shri Sidharth Luthra, Sr. Adv., and Ms. Anu Monga, and Secretary Sr. Prof. (Dr.) Usha Tandon. Their collective guidance and vision continue to strengthen the association’s role in nurturing legal scholarship and alumni engagement.

Topics

Participants can choose from three thought-provoking topics:

  • The Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023: A Robust Safeguard for Privacy or a Half-Hearted Reform?
  • AI-Generated Creations and Copyright: Redefining Authorship in the Age of Algorithms
  • The Role of Governors in Indian Federalism: Constitutional Guardians or Political Agents?

Eligibility

The competition is open to all three-year LL.B. students currently enrolled at CLC, as well as registered alumni from the batches of 2020 to 2025. Essays must be original, written in English, and between 3,000–4,000 words.

Awards

Winners will receive both certificates and cash prizes:

  • 1st Prize: ₹20,000
  • 2nd Prize: ₹15,000
  • 3rd Prize: ₹10,000
  • Consolation Prize: ₹5,000

Deadline

Abstracts are due by September 21, 2025, full essays by October 12, 2025, and results will be declared in the last week of October.
